Making connections and finding your blog’s voice….

Marketing wisdom teaches that it takes 8 “touches” to build enough trust with a stranger (a.k.a. a potential client/customer) for them to contact you for more information about your products or services.

Your blog is a GREAT way to make those touches with potential clients/customers. Businesses big and small are “waking up” to the new era of blogs!  (By the way, if you were doing business on the internet in 1998, you would have heard the same thing about your email newsletter or ezine.)

Communication with strangers with whom you’d like to be friends is essential to your business success.  In order to to effectively begin this communication and begin building trust, you have to find your blog’s unique voice.  This isn’t just a feel good mantra being sold by weed smoking blog “gurus”.  Finding your “blog’s voice” is all about writing in a way that CONNECTS with your readers.

Those who have experimented with blogging as a way to promote their business  and who have been disappointed usually discover that they are “sanitizing” their posts.  Trying to write in a manner that HIDES who you are is one way to ensure your blog never finds its unique voice.  Maki at Dosh Dosh recommends you begin blogging and write as if no one is watching… that will help you to find your blog’s voice.

Finding your blog’s voice is all about connecting with your readers.  You can’t expect to make the  connection with strangers without finding your voice.  Once you’ve found your blog’s voice… you’ll usually discover that you’re really making a connection with other people who think like you do.
